Damien will be appearing in If You Don’t Let Us Dream We Won’t Let You Sleep alongside Susan Brown, Ben Dilloway, Laura Elphinstone, Daniel Kendrick, Lucian Msamati, Ferdy Roberts and Meera Syal.

The Royal Court Theatre production runs from 15 February – 9 March.

Written by 2011 Harold Pinter Playwrights Award winner and political activist Anders Lustgarten, the play is political in flavour, according to a Royal Court Theatre press release:

As the financial world issues its shock treatment, what happens when the City’s agenda is taken to its ultimate conclusion?

Lustgarten’s passionately argued new play explodes the ethos of austerity and offers an alternative.

the production is also described as being “without décor”:

If You Don’t Let Us Dream, We Won’t Let You Sleep will be presented as a production without décor in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs. A regular fixture at the Royal Court on Sunday evenings in the 1960s, a production without décor gave an emerging playwright the opportunity to have their play showcased on the main stage, in a full production but with minimal setting.

Associate Director at the Royal Court, Simon Godwin, will direct. If You Don’t Let Us Dream, We Won’t Let You Sleep is part of the Jerwood New Playright programme at Royal Court, supported by the Jerwood Charitable Foundation, ‘which aims to discover and support the next generation of world class playwrights’.

Damien is perhaps best known for his television work in BBC Being Human, but he also has a impressive body of theatre work, including the male lead in ‘Tis Pity She’s Whore (2011) for which he won an Ian Charleson Award and National Theatre production Travelling Light (2012).
