Damien has been cast in a brand new original TV Drama Clean Break for RTÉ.

The drama is written by Billy Roche (The Eclipse), directed by Gillies MacKinnon (Behind the Lines) and Damien O’Donnell (East is East) and produced by Octagon Films and 152 Productions.

RTÉ is the national public service broadcaster of Ireland, home to the successful gangland drama Love/Hate. Set in Wexford, Clean Break is Damien’s first TV drama filmed and set in his native land. The series “tells the tale of a community driven by love, greed, status and revenge” and also stars actors from Love/Hate and BBC period drama Peaky Blinders.

Damien is playing the character Danny Dempsey alongside Adam Fergus (Love/Hate) as Frank Mallon, Aidan McArdle (The Mill, Mr Selfridge) as Desmond Rane, Simone Kirby (Peaky Blinders) as Annette Rane, Kelly Thornton (Love/Hate) as Corrina Mallon and Ned Dennehy (Peaky Blinders) as Noel Blake.

The four part series is already in production, with Damien’s co-star Adam Fergus posting on his Twitter page yesterday…

…and Damien (as he did when playing Hal in Being Human and Albert Flight in Ripper Street) posting a photo of inside his new trailer door this morning.

It looks like a lot of early starts for our fave actor over the next few weeks as Clean Break films, we send our congratulations to him and all the cast, creators and crew on the beginning of their new adventure.
