THE SPLIT 2 UPDATE: Damien Molony wraps on filming, reveals character props photo clue

It’s A Wrap!

We recently had the honour of sharing the exciting news of Damien’s casting in the second series of BBC drama The Split and now have an update – after months on set, our fave actor has just revealed he has completed filming!

He shared the news with an enthusiastic post on his official Twitter page, thanking production company Sisters Pictures and his casting agent.

Damien will appear as Tyler Donaghue in the London set legal drama, which began filming in March this year. He shared with us:

I’m having great fun playing Tyler. it’s been a really fun few months. I loved the first series, so I am thrilled to be in the show.“

The Split centres on the professional and personal lives of the Defoe sisters. In series 1, high flying divorce lawyer Hannah (Nicola Walker) had left the family law film to work at rival company Noble & Hale, leaving her mother Ruth (Deborah Findlay) and sister Nina (Annabel Scholey) to try to save Defoe’s. The end of the series saw the two companies merging together to create ‘Noble Hale Defoe’.

This important fact is highly relevant to an exciting photo clue Damien has also shared in an Instagram story, in which he revealed it was his last day of filming, with a photo of props belonging to his character – including a pen a with the inscription NOBLE HALE DEFOE.

We have had no info on his character Tyler, or where he fits into the world of The Split, until now, but this clue strongly suggests Tyler Donaghue is involved with the newly merged company, in some way.

We cannot wait to find out more.

An official announcement on an air date is yet to come, but Stephen Mangan, who plays Nathan Stern in the drama, shared on Twitter that the new series will reach us in 2020.

The Split 2 is created and written by Abi Morgan, directed by Paula van der Oest and Joss Agnew, produced by Natasha Romaniuk, series produced by Jane Featherstone, Sister Pictures for BBC One and co-produced with SundanceTV.
