Our fave actor made his debut in Abi Morgan’s legal drama as Tyler Donaghue in the new series of when it premiered on BBC One last week.

Damien’s debut as Tyler Donaghue in The Split 2 Episode 1
Episode 1 introduced Tyler as a Management Consultant to help with the transition of newly merged Noble Hale Defoe. Boss Zander (Chukwudi Iwuji) also revealed Tyler was his fiancé.

Zander introduces Tyler to the Noble Hale Defoe team
His arrival unsettles the team, and when it quickly becomes apparent that his new role is more to ‘streamline’ than support, the strain is tangible – especially when he explains “Any new merger is an opportunity to do due diligence. scrutinise practise, look to cut away fat.”
When Tyler watches and questions staff, reads their emails and lurks in doorways, the tension between him and the team grows, particularly with Nina (Annabel Scholey).
What is coming up in episode 2?
(FAIR WARNING FOR SPOILERS!)
In tonight’s episode, Tyler’s presence continues to cause a stir and begins to put pressure on the team.
In a tense one-to-one in her office, Tyler questions Hannah (Nicola Walker) on her choice of clients. “Mergers don’t come cheap and it’s NHD now, so can we step it up?”
A feisty, boozed up Nina gives as good as she get at after work drinks arranged by Zander, and the evening becomes more team damaging than team building. She turns the tables on Tyler with a comment about his Facebook page that add to seeds of doubt planted about his background throughout this episode.
Back at NDH (an acronym not lost on Nina, “Brilliant. In one acronym he’s managed to reduced this company to something that sounds like an STI”), Tyler challenges Nina on her many “duvet days” and suggests he will advise Zander to “rationalise” if “the books don’t balance” in terms of “productivity and passion”.
But has his parting shot questioning her drinking issues pushed her too far, while she struggles to come to terms with her (as yet secret) surprise pregnancy?
Meanwhile the drama continues for the Defoes, as Hannah continues to lead a double life between Nathan (Stephen Mangan) and Christie (Barry Atsma), Rose (Fiona Button) deals with the devastation of her miscarriage, and Ruth (Deborah Findlay) reconnects with someone from her past.
The Split series 2 episode 2 airs on BBC One 9pm tonight, or stream the complete series on the BBC iplayer now.
