WATCH ONLINE! Damien Molony performs on stage with WordTheatre: The Stories Of Peter Ortner

Damien brings great writing to life at WordTheatre event

A WordTheatre event with two Damien performances has been made available online and we are thrilled to be able to enjoy and share this wonderful treat with our fellow Molonians!

Our fave actor joined a glittering cast on stage at the Crazy Coqs in London June last year, for WordTheatre’s Voices from the American Heartland: Stories by Peter Orner.

Thanks to their “Stay at Home with Crazy Coqs” online initiative during the lockdown, now the entire show is available to watch worldwide.

Introduced by artistic director Cedering Fox, with author Peter Orner in attendance and wonderful musical accompaniment from violin virtuoso Lizzie Ball, Damien performs two of Peter Orner’s short stories on stage. Readings from David Soul, Emily Bruni, Ian Hart, Madeleine Potter and Rhashan Stone round out the programme.

At nearly one and a half hours long, the event by video is a truly visceral experience, the stories themselves are immersive and character driven, brought to life by the whole cast with captivating performances.  Damien truly brings great writing to life and delivers expressive, magnetic, funny readings.

Watch the full video below, with the words of Cedering Fox as an introduction:

“The idea is to just take time and let yourselves go. The way Peter’s words seep into the cracks of what it is to be human, and illuminate these characters… I hope you’ll go on this beautiful journey with us.”

Damien’s performances:

‘Untitled’: 33.14 – 42.16 mins
‘Shoe Story’: 103.40 – 108.00 mins

Our fave actor has performed with WordTheatre many times across the years, at select events in London UK. We are grateful that this has been made more widely available, giving us a much needed escape into another world at this challenging time. May it be the first of many.
