Could YOU Be A Blood Donation Hero? Damien Molony Gives Blood While Filming Brassic 4
Damien has given blood for the 22nd time!
On his day off from filming for Brassic series 4 in Manchester, Damien has once again given blood and shared a post-donation selfie on his Instagram page.
He previously donated during filming for The Split Series 3 in June.
Having consistently given blood since 2012, his latest donation is his 22nd.
2021 has been an important year for blood donation, with increased education and historic policy change coming at a time of blood shortage due the pandemic, both in the UK and internationally.
Learning about blood and organ donation is now part of the National Curriculum for secondary schools in the UK, with NHS Blood and Transplant developing free lesson resources.
June this year saw a landmark change in blood donation eligibility rules, lifting a blanket ban in the UK for any men who have had sex with men in the last three months and a change in criteria focussing on behaviour regardless of gender.
Appeals for donors has also increased across the world in recent weeks and months, in the UK particularly in the black community, with the launch of the Bonded By Blood campaign.
Give Blood NHS encouraged people to “become a blood donation hero” and teamed up with Twentieth Century Studios and their film Free Guy.
We think Damien is definitely a blood donation hero, could you be one too?
