NEW TV ROLE: Damien Molony to star in THE GREAT SEASON 3 – HUZZAH!

Newsflash! Damien will be appearing in Hulu’s period dramedy The Great season 3 – and it’s coming soon!

Hulu has just dropped a brand new trailer for the upcoming series, with Damien’s casting confirmed by his agency Curtis Brown.

Due to air on Friday May 12, the award-winning ‘anti-historical’ and satirical series is set in 18th century Russia and based on the rise and reign of Catherine The Great.

Damien’s role is yet to be revealed, but his Spotlight page gives his character’s name as Nikolai, potentially a historical figure. The previous two series strayed far from historical fact, but featured some genuine characters from history, including royalty, military, courtiers, and artists.

Our fave actor stars alongside an incredible cast, including Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult in the lead roles as Catherine The Great and Emperor Peter III, Phoebe Fox, Sacha Dhawan, Adam Godley, Gwilym Lee, Charity Wakefield, Douglas Hodge, Bayo Gbadamosi, Belinda Bromilow. Also guest starring are two of his former co-stars; Julian Barratt (Being Human) as Doctor Vinodel and Dustin Demri-Burns (GameFace) as Voltaire.

Check out the official season 3 synopsis from Hulu below.

Season 3 of The Great sees Catherine and Peter attempt to make their marriage work after some seemingly insurmountable problems. Peter witnessed his own attempted murder at Catherine’s hands and she also imprisoned all of his friends. On top of this, Peter is at a loose end playing First Husband to Catherine’s reign, so he busies himself with fathering, hunting and salty culinary ventures. But they’re not enough to keep him contented as visions of his late father (played by Jason Isaacs), get in his head about his failures as Peter the Great’s son. Catherine the Great starts making a name for herself beyond her borders and inspired by a visit from the US ambassador, sets up a conference where peasants, nobles and merchants can all give their input on developing a new Russia. She learns that even the best political leaders sometimes need to make compromises in order to progress.

We are excited to find out more about Damien’s new TV role and where his character Nikolai fits into this hilarious and raucous universe, and are definitely here for the period costume. Let the speculation begin – huzzah!
