As filming for the second series of the BBC One’s Ripper Street gets underway, speculation is rife about Damien’s role in the Bafta nominated Victorian crime drama, following the appearance of a photo of him on set in period costume.

while we await offial confirmation, Digital Spy and scifipulse report that he has signed up for a guest role.

Damien, who had a lead role for two series of BBC Supernatural Drama Being Human as 519 year old vampire Hal Yorke, is no stranger to the occasional historical costume.
In our opinion he would be a superb addition to an already outstanding cast, including Matthew Macfadyen, MyAnna Buring, Jerome Flynn, Adam Rothenberg and other former Being Human actors Charlene McKenna, Amanda Hale and Steven Robertson.

Fan curiosity had previously been piqued as to the possibility of Damien appearing in the drama by an interview with Damien and MyAnna Buring at the 2013 First Light Awards (below) when MyAnna was asked about Ripper Street.

Ripper Street is a joint BBC and BBC America production written by Richard Wadlow, recommissioned for a second series in January this year. The drama is set in the post Jack The Ripper streets of London’s East End in Victorian times and filmed in Dublin, close to home for Damien. Fingers crossed we will see the return of our favourite actor to our tv screens when the drama returns for an eight episode second series early 2014.
