Damien has been regularly donating blood since 2012 and campaigns to inspire countless others to #SaveALife and #GiveBlood.

Since his first donation, Damien has also continued to actively raises awareness of the importance of blood donation and has motivated to his Twitter followers to ‘save a life give blood’ by ‘ReTweet’ing post-donation photos sent to him.

He appeared on the front cover of Blood Donor Magazine in 2013, where he revealed in an exclusive interview that his own inspiration for beginning to give blood was a personal one.

When I was filming the first series of Being Human someone very close to me died. David had cancer and was losing a lot of blood. To keep him alive while he was receiving treatment, he needed two pints of blood a day. I was genuinely amazed that people who had never met David were keeping him alive with their donated blood.”
